Joshua’s Day (full Video)

PROJECT TITLE: Joshua’s Day

DURATION: Fall Semester 2015

TEAM: Designed and created by Kyle Yizar

DESCRIPTION

When creating Joshua’s, I first came up with the happenings of the video.  During this period I had decided what kind of mood and type of animation I wanted to make and I wanted my animation to feel awkward but also make the audience cringe.I started to think of a scenario that my video would have.  I didn’t want it to be too outrageous or out there, just because it would have fit with the mood I needed.  So it came to me a simple day watching, or trying to watch TV, and that is the whole concept of my animation.

RESEARCH

The making my character, this step wasn’t too hard, because prior to this class I have had a character in mind that I want to see alive. His name is Joshua. Joshua’s design was made with the help of two objects. So all I had to then was look up the one character and item to make Joshua. He has the body of a trash can and the arms and legs of mike wazowski.

I was inspired to make Joshua’s day by videos such as:

By Kevin Bradly

and

By  Michael Cusack

CHALLENGES

During the animation process creating Joshua’s Day , I used classical tweens in the introducing, motion tweens for the mouse movements and bones for the arm movements.  During the use of the tweens, I have had no trouble. However using bones gave me a little bit of a problem. The limbs were discontenting so I had to go back frame by frame and reconnect them. Other wise no major complication.

STRATEGY

Story board which to be explained in a sentence is Joshua sitting on his couch and retrieving his remote couch, which doesn’t even work for him, it is 32 scenes, I did not make an animatic,  because I had no use for such a thing. So i will present my scenes in a slide show format:

Principles

Final now for the principles of animation that my video demonstrates.  One of them is anticipation and the second one is appeal. Anticipation is when a character prepares for an action be for doing it, this can be see when Joshua is about to throw the remote control on the ground. He pulls back his arm then jerks it forward to throw it. To appeal is to make a character physically appealing, although Joshua doesn’t seem appeal, I feel a viewer would find interest to his odd shape body, sickly green skin tone and the dumb founded look he has on his face.
